Carlos Mesber, from telenovela villain to producer of hit shows. «He is a great leader» (Exclusive)
Translated from an article originally published in Spanish.
‘Desiguales’ and ‘¡Siéntese quien pueda!’ are among the formats produced by this leading executive, described by his talent as «a brilliant human being with an immense heart»
Some will remember him as the villainous farmhand in the telenovela Gata salvaje (2002); others may recall the misdeeds he committed as Gerardo Aguilar in the melodrama Tierra de pasiones (2006); and for many he is the ‘Turco Mustafá’ of Todo por tu amor (1997)… Between 1994 and 2006, Carlos Mesber had a distinguished career as a television actor that made his name with the wider public. “[It was] a delicious, rich time,” he recalls in an interview with People en Español about his past as a villain on the small screen.
In 2006, after shooting the hit Telemundo telenovela starring Gaby Spanic, Mesber decided to put his acting career on hold and make the jump behind the camera. “I had a slightly strange experience with that novela,” he admits. «So I decided to create the work myself rather than going around asking for it.” Two years earlier, in 2004, he had already opened his production company. “In 2009 I partnered with another production company called High Hill Entertainment. With High I made other entertainment shows, like Confesiones de novelas and ¡Suelta la sopa!… We made around 15 different shows, and then in 2021 the partners decided to close High,” he says.
All of my shows involve celebrities. I have never made a show — and I have done about 18 — without them
