CONTENT AMERICAS: Miami-based production companies VIP 2000 TV, We Love Entertainment and Vilaplana Films are set to collaborate on a TV movie franchise with Spanish counterpart El Sueño Eterno.
The first instalment of the franchise, titled Eva & Adán in Miami, will star Elizabeth Gutiérrez and Julián Gil, who are also on board as executive producers.
The franchise will explore different cities through stories, with a second instalment, Romeo & Juliet in Madrid, set to be filmed in Spain.
According to Roxana Rotundo, CEO of VIP 2000 TV, the project responds to current industry challenges. “We are in a moment of transformation of the industry and this project is that reinvention that we do in every market.”
“This is a huge effort. Everyone knows the industry is going through a decline in production, and we want to stay relevant.”
Carlos Mesber, CEO of We Love Entertainment, added: “Today, I work with love and passion. This team has everything it takes to make projects that excite us a reality.”
Lilo Vilaplana, director at Vilaplana Films, emphasised the challenges and opportunities of filming in Miami. “It is a difficult city to produce in, but not impossible. With this union of forces, we are sure we will be able to develop more projects in the region,” he said.
